How do I know if I need a license?

Check your Judicial Circuit’s requirements below. Some require registration, while others permit direct service under state law.

How long does it take to get approved?

Processing times vary. Some circuits approve applications within a week, while others require exams and additional steps.

Can I serve documents in other circuits?

Yes! If you are licensed or authorized, you can serve documents in other circuits. Always verify before serving.

1st Judicial Circuit – Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton

  • Clay County: We can set you up on a Motion & Order directly with our clients so you can start working. Approval typically takes 3-5 weeks. Please reach out to your recruiter to be set up with Motion & Order in this county. 
  • Duval County: Does not license new Process Servers. See rules here.
    • If you have a question regarding a Duval County Special Process Server, please contact the Process Server Coordinator at 904.255.2470.
  • Nassau County: Sheriff-only, but allows licensed Process Servers in special cases. See procedures and fees.

5th Judicial Circuit – Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, and Sumter

Get licensed as a process server for the 5th Judicial Circuit.

6th Judicial Circuit – Pasco and Pinellas

7th Judicial Circuit – St. Johns, Volusia, Flagler, Putnam

  • Flagler County: Review Flagler County Private Civil Service Program.
  • Putnam County: We can set you up on a Motion & Order directly with our clients so you can start working. Approval typically takes 3-5 weeks. Please reach out to your recruiter to be set up with Motion & Order in this county. 

 

8th Judicial Circuit – Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Gilchrist, Jefferson, Levy, and Union

Please note: Baker County is sheriff-only

You may be eligible for Motion & Order approval through ABC Legal in the following counties:

  • Alachua County
  • Baker
  • Bradford County
  • Gilchrist County
  • Jefferson
  • Levy County
  • Union County

9th Judicial Circuit – Orange and Osceola

12th Judicial Circuit – Sarasota, Manatee, and DeSoto

Become a certified process server in the 12th Judicial Circuit by applying anytime between July 1 and August 31 each year. The application must be completed electronically.

13th Judicial Circuit – Hillsborough County

14th Judicial Circuit – Bay, Calhoun, Jackson, Washington, Gulf, and Holmes

Bay County: Contact your county clerk at the 14th Judicial Circuit to obtain process server licensing for Bay County. 850-747-5327 

Note: Calhoun, Jackson, Washington, Gulf, and Holmes counties are Sheriff‑only.
