What should I put in my Attempt and Service notes?

As a Process Server, you must provide honest and accurate submissions in the ABC Mobile App for proofs of service/non-service.

When entering an attempt or service, the system will automatically generate notes based on your input. This is your opportunity to include any additional details that may be relevant to the service. The more information you provide, the better we can assess whether the address is appropriate for continued service. 

📲 Please keep in mind: If it is not documented in ABC Mobile it cannot be considered in our assessment of the address and/or service. 

What is considered relevant information?

  • Conversations with residents and neighbors

    • I spoke to a neighbor that doesn’t recognize name. She said that only a Mark Peters lives there alone”

    • The resident told me that the subject resides but is unavailable. He told me that Kelsey will be home after 6pm tonight.

  • Observations at the property

    • “The grass was overgrown. My card from my last visit was where I placed it 2 days ago. ”

    • “There was no answer at the address. I could hear noises but everything stopped as soon as I knocked. The lights were turned off immediately as well”

  • Phone call results

    • “I spoke to [SUBJECT'S NAME] resulting in address confirmed. He said he was unaware of documents but was willing to meet tomorrow after 11AM“

    • “I spoke to [SUBJECT'S NAME] resulting in address moved. He confirmed that he just bought a house across town and is offering to meet me at this residence to pick up mail and the documents”

By adding more information, not only can we make a more informed decision on whether this is a good address to serve, but it also can help non-serve an address faster when needed.

Important details allow Support and Investigations to see the full picture to best asses what needs to happen next. Note: You’ll still need solid evidence that the subject does not reside in order for a non-service to occur.

What to NOT include on my attempts?

  • Inquiries to support

    • “I spoke to a resident. I’ve reached out to support for advice“

    • “I need to speak to support”

  • Duplicate attempts

    • “I already went, I’m inputting an attempt“

👁️ ABC Legal does not actively review each and every attempt. Please refrain from using attempts to communicate as it can cause further delays. Any information reported in ABC Mobile will populate on a proof that will be filed at court and reviewed by a judge. 

What should I be taking pictures of?

Pictures should be used as proof that you are at the correct address.

  • The residence with the address number/ unit number

  • All cars in the driveway. Try to get the clear photos of the license plates

  • Any signs that can indicate subject reside such as last name signs, name on call boxes

  • No Trespassing Signs

  • For vacant properties: lockboxes, vacancy notices on door, piles of mail, etc.
