How earnings are calculated, including per-job fees, potential bonuses, and reimbursements.
Offered Rates
ABC Legal provides a flexible pricing structure for individual jobs, which means that service rates can differ based on specific factors associated with each task. This adaptable pricing model enables us to customize our fees according to the complexity, urgency, and distinct requirements of each job.
The offered rates will be presented in the Available Jobs section of ABC Mobile. After claiming a job, you will have a chance to review and confirm the rate before accepting the job at that rate.
Unique Pay scenarios may apply that are unknown at the time of claiming, and the offered rate will not reflect the adjusted pay amount. Once a job meets the specifications to qualify as a Unique Pay scenario, the pay rate will update to be reflected in your account.
Please note: Fees that accompany the service, such as a Secretary of State fee or Subpoena fee, should be provided in the form of eChecks as part of the documents package. See "Missing Fees" below.
Bonuses
Referral
ABC Legal values the dedication and professionalism of our Process Server community—and we want to reward you when you bring others into the fold. Through our Process Server Referral Program, you can earn a referral bonus when you recommend a qualified process server who joins our network. For full details on eligibility, bonus amounts, and how to submit your referral, visit the Process Server Referral Program page.
RUSH
When speed matters, ABC Legal rewards your agility with our Rush Bonus Pay. Rush orders offer elevated compensation—and higher expectations—for process servers who respond quickly and reliably. To qualify, you must attempt service within 24 hours of claiming the job, and continue to attempt every 24 hours thereafter for as long as the assignment remains open. These orders are easily identifiable in the ABC Mobile app—look for the orange “Rush” tag on the List view or orange pins in the Map view. For full details on expectations and app navigation, visit our Rush Orders page and our Rush Order Essentials guide.
Reimbursements
Printing
When you serve with ABC Legal, you’re responsible for printing your own documents—and we make every page count. To offset this cost, we offer a flat-rate printing pay reimbursement of $0.08 per page. Documents become available to print the moment a job is claimed, helping you stay efficient and in control of your schedule while being reimbursed fairly for your time and resources. For full details, check out our Printing resources page.
📲 Under our current policy, printing pay reimbursements generate after the first attempt on a job is logged.
Notary
ABC Legal generally does not reimburse notary fees—but there are exceptions. If an assignment originates from an out-of-state court that mandates notarization, while the local service-area courts typically do not, we may reimburse the cost on a case-by-case basis, up to a maximum of $15. Decisions are made individually based on the unique circumstances of the job. Notably, while most jobs won’t qualify, you can deduct any out-of-pocket notary fees as a professional services tax write‑off when filing as a 1099 independent contractor. Please refer to our Proofs 101 page for context on when notary blocks appear—and our tax deductions guide for 1099 contractors for info on claiming notary costs as deductions.
Missing Fees
On occasion, an order may require an additional fee at the time of service. If ABC Legal did not provide advance payment—or no check for those funds was included—and you must cover the cost out of pocket, simply submit the job number and a copy of the receipt via the form below to be reimbursed. If you know in advance that funds will be needed, you can request an eCheck using the form on our Fee Advances page. Please note: eChecks are manually generated and may take a couple of business days to process.
Additional Expenses Incurred
At times, an ABC Legal employee may request a one-off action that results in an additional out-of-pocket expense for the process server (for example, mailing a second copy after the first has already been paid for). In these cases, ABC Legal will reimburse the added cost—but we require the name of the ABC Legal employee who made or authorized the request to process the reimbursement.
